Every year thousands get infected with dengue virus inspite of various efforts made by the health officials. Do we ponder on keeping it away with some simple self-applied precautions?

How is Dengue transmitted?
Dengue is spread through the bite of the female mosquito (Aedes aegypti). The mosquito becomes infected when it sucks the blood of a person infected with Arbovirus & transmits the virus by biting a healthy person.
How do you know that you’ve got Dengue fever?
Dengue, often called ‘broken bone’ fever is not very easy to recognize at its earlier stages. Yet after 4-10 days of the body infected with virus, it shows some very agonized symptoms that hits a person’s physical strength. Knowing the signs of Dengue fever, you can still manage the fatality of it.
The symptoms rage from no signs to symptoms of mild Dengue fever:
- High body temperature or Fever
- Severe muscle and Joint pain
- Swollen Lymph nodes: headaches
- Abdominal Pain
- Bleeding nose
- Excessive Vomiting
Once you know how Dengue fever seems like, you can then approach medical help. It is always suggested to diagnose the fever before getting any medication and treatment procedure.
How it can be prevented?
As said ‘Precaution is always better than cure’, there are some prevention measures that can keep you protected from Dengue. You just need to read and implement beforehand.
- Use good mosquito repellant
- Eliminate standing water
- Air-conditioned or well screened housing
- Wear protective clothing
Dengue has no defined treatment, but yes it requires symptomatic treatment, i.e relieving the symptoms. Any negligence to these can make Dengue fatal..The best advice is that patients should rest and keep themselves hydrated & follow your physician advice. Remember, Dengue is bad but it does not always make you admitted to the hospital if you know how to manage it.
